Cultivate a Positive Mind-Set Through Meditation

Friday, May 9th, 2008

You have the ability to create your own mind-set. Whether your attitude is positive or negative, is up to you. The ability to change your environment, circle of friends, and attitude, is within your control.

Just like a computer absorbs raw data, so does your mind.
Within your mind a culture, within itself, has grown. Many people feel like they have no control of their own mind, because this culture has become negative. The negativity is a result of past experiences, being in a negative environment, or being under the influence of unconstructive ideas.

Similar to a computer virus, you have to identify it quickly, to avoid letting it spread within your mind. You can also pass this virus of negative thinking to people around you. As a result you are spreading negative energy around, like “weeds in a field.”

Much like a farmer, you cultivate too. The energy in your mind is the crop, and it is up to you, whether it is weeds or wheat. If you have a farm and let a field take care of itself; you will be lucky to have any kind of a crop, from it. This is the same with the energy within your mind.

You have to option to pick quality seeds: Information, in the form of books, eBooks, DVD’s, CD’s, lectures, courses, workshops, and seminars. This is learning, for the sake of self-improvement, and it results in a positive mind-set.

However, your work is not finished, because you must still reinforce the lessons, and keep everything in a focused order. This might be compared to fertilizing, watering, and “weeding the mind.” You have to work at it continually or the weeds will grow back. This, my friend, is meditation, and one of the reasons why we meditate, in the first place.

Meditation is controlled focus on an object, thought, or task without judgment. This process makes it possible to look at all situations objectively. You can find solutions, turn negative situations into positive learning experiences, and create your own positive mindset. As a result of this you will make new friends, reach goals, handle problems easily, and develop an indomitable spirit.

Remember the last time you made an accomplishment. That feeling, and that ability, are within all of us. It is a formula for success, but you have to take action. Action is something that the vast majority of people will never take.
Learn to separate yourself from “the pack,” through education, meditation, and action.

Teaching your children to self-motivate

Friday, May 9th, 2008

As you grow older, you might look back upon your life with a sense of regret for things you did not do or things you did not know. While you can understand that it was all a part of the learning process, you still want to pass along some of your mistakes to your children in order to help them make the most of their lives. One of the best ways you can help your child develop and grow is to teach them how to motivate themselves - without your input. Not only will this benefit you as a parent, but your children will be able to apply these lessons to the rest of their life.

Why Motivation Should Start Young

What most parents do when they are raising their children is to create boundaries in which they can safely learn to grow and make decisions. While this is the right thing to do when a child is very young, as they grow older, these boundaries can cause them to be limited in their experience of the world - and of making mistakes. Lessons learned from these mistakes are invaluable, but without being given the opportunity to fail, your child will not learn to succeed.

Motivating themselves should start when children are still given strict boundaries. By learning the reasons behind doing things, they can begin to see why it’s important to complete certain tasks. This will instill in them a strong sense of self worth because they know they are making a difference, but it will also allow the child to learn responsibility for handling chores and other activities.

The more the child is put into these sorts of situations, the more they will be able to begin these tasks on their own. By knowing that their actions will have value for others as well as for themselves, they will be motivated to complete the things they need to do.

Teaching Motivation

Children are already learning more than you can possibly imagine. Each new experience is something that is new and wondrous, but without a context, the importance may also be easily lost. There are several ways you can begin to teach motivation without seeming like you’re condemning the child’s age:

- Be interactive with your children - Explain to them why you do things and why they are asked to do things. Listen to their concerns and address their concerns as well.

- Encourage your children to ask questions - This fosters self-confidence and importance in their lives.

- Reward children for self motivating - Whether they’ve done an extra chore without your asking or they’ve simply begun to reduce their dependence on you, make sure to reward this to let them know they’re on the right track.

Children who are self motivated will grow up to be strong students and people. Instead of constantly looking for someone else to do the job for them, they will be looking for ways to make things happen in their own lives. Wouldn’t this make them and you proud?

You Tube saw downtime, why people seek alternatives to You Tube

Saturday, May 3rd, 2008

This morning around 9:14 am est, the  internet’s video sharing site You Tube faced a significant amount of downtime, for almost 10 min. the site was down. What was the problem? All the thousands and millions of other websites out there who have business pendant if not lost due to the downtime. They embed their videos, entrusting the service, to have their videos down as well.

People seek alternatives to You Tube to get a better range of videos that appeal to their lifestyle.

Many popular alternatives are veoh.com , GodTube .com is a video-driven social network where users can explore their faith and the tenets of Christianity. Metacafe is one of the world’s largest video sites, attracting more than 25 million unique viewers each month, they specialize in short-form original content - from new, emerging talents and established Hollywood heavyweights alike.  MySpaceTV where you can find many tv show episodes. You can also watch full tv show episodes on the channels own website, like abc.com, cbs.com, tbs.com, usanetwork.com. Also some radio stations are now broadcasting their own Internet T.V. Channels. 97.1 FM features 24/7 hip-hop & R&B music videos on hot97.com , seeing that most of today’s music video channels, like MTV don’t always broadcast what they are supposed to, music videos.

BetterDaysTV.net features the internet’s largest free Success and Self Improvement Internet TV Channel. They have been growing very rapidly over the past few months since launch. They have over 500 videos to provide an alternative to today’s common t.v. programming. That is in providing people a way to look at tv as an informative, uplifting, and motivational ways to guide them to Better Days ahead. They’ve broadcasted to over 200,000 unique visitors since February 2008.  They have allowed their users to even share their favorite videos, and add them to the community, and gain monetization through Google advertisements.

The problem: Large video sites like You Tube makes millions and billions of dollars off advertising from the people’s work, videos. New sites like GetPaid2YouTube.com allows users to not only upload videos to share with friends, but also add videos from their favorite sites like YouTube, Dailymotion, Veoh, MetaCafe, etc. and make money from the advertisements themselves. Doesn’t that seem like an appropiate solution?

Wishing you all the best in your journey to success,
Alan
